Social Media Links

It would be nice if everybody who came to your Web site was ready to buy exactly what you've got to offer them. But that's rarely the case. So you have to keep in touch with them regularly until they are ready to buy.

Until a few years ago, the best way to do that - and this was streets ahead of any other option - was to send them your e-mail newsletter. That is still important (and I will show you how to do that), but it's no longer the only way. Now they'll stay in your "circle of influence" through places like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, your blog and other on-line communities.

Think of this as your own private solar system:

Your Web site is the "sun" in the middle. But orbiting around it are other things - like your Twitter account, your Facebook profile, your blog, and so on.

For example, here's what my solar system looks like:

In this picture, GihanPerera.com is my Web site, GihanPerera.info is my blog, GihanPerera.tv is my YouTube channel, @gihanperera is my Twitter account, and there are a few other things, like my e-mail newsletter, my LinkedIn account, my Facebook profile, and some on-line communities.

You certainly don't need all of these things, particularly if your business is relatively new. But it's useful to have some of them available, and allow people to link to them from your Web site.

In the Boot Camp, I'll show you how to add these links to your Web site - as you can see on the right of this Web site.
