PowerPoint Presentations
Many presenters use PowerPoint - and unfortunately, most of them use it badly. However, even if you're not a presenter, you can tap into the power of PowerPoint to create effective presentations on your Web site.
In the Boot Camp, I'll demonstrate a simple - and free - service for you to upload your PowerPoint presentations, and share them with the world (including on your own Web site). The service converts your presentation into an on-line slide show, with buttons for the user to move back and forward through the show. You can even add audio narration to your slide shows to create a complete stand-alone presentation.
After you upload it, it allows other users to view your show, make comments, add them to their "favorites", and recommend it to others. You can also embed a slide show in your blog or on any Web page.
You can also make your slide shows private, so they can't be seen unless you send people a secret link to them (or embed them into a secret page). This means you can also use it for private presentations, such as:
- Internal staff briefings
- Sales presentations for specific prospects
- Presentations for members of your membership site
- Sending your PowerPoint slides to people who attend a presentation
- Tutorial videos for training purposes
Example 1: Promoting some other product or service
Here's one simple example: A brief slide show presentation I created to promote an e-book I co-authored with a professional colleague:
Example 2: Recording of a presentation
Here's another example, this time from a live conference presentation I made, where I've combined the audio recording from the conference with the PowerPoint slide show:
In the Boot Camp, I'll show you how to use this feature to upload your PowerPoint slide shows. I'll also show you where you can find other high-quality PowerPoint presentations you can include - free and with permission - on your site.
