Boot Camp Outline
You might have read enough already to know that this Boot Camp is perfect for you. If so, that's great - you can stop the tour and go straight to the registration page.
But I know some people like to know more detail before they sign up. So on this page I'll give you an outline of how the Boot Camp works in practice.
This five-minute video gives you an overview of what you will build over the two days:
Planning Webinar
Two weeks before the Boot Camp, I host a one-hour webinar for everybody who's attending, so I can answer any of your questions. I'll also walk you through all of the preparation work above, in case you're getting stuck with any of it.
If you've never been on a "webinar" before: It's easy. The word "webinar" is a combination of "Web" and "seminar". It's like attending a seminar, but from the comfort of your home or office. You'll be able to hear me speak, you can see what I'm doing on my screen and you can ask questions.
Your Preparation
You can turn up to the Boot Camp without any preparation at all, but then you won't get the most out of it. Sure, you'll learn the technical skills for building a Web site, but it won't be a Web site that matches your business strategy.
So I'll ask you to do some preparation before you attend:
- Choose and register a domain name;
- Sign up to the Web hosting service and other services we'll be using;
- Do some thinking and planning about your target market(s) and their biggest problems;
- Summarise each of the products and services you offer;
- Gather your logo, photographs and other graphics in electronic form, ready to put on the Web site.
I'll give you some instructions on exactly how to do these steps, so the process is as simple and painless as possible.
Day 1: Core Modules
On the first day of the Boot Camp, we build the "core" of your Web site. In fact, my goal is that you can walk out at the end of the first day with a functional, attractive Web site. Even though it won't be complete, it will be live on the Internet and ready to show people.
We have four sessions in the day:
Session 1: Planning and Framework
You sketch out a basic "site map", and then go on-line to create this framework on the live Web site. At the end of this session you'll have a Web site with working menus and links, but all the pages are blank!
Session 2: Products and Services
This is the session where you write your flyers or sales letters for each of your products or services. I'll give you a template that makes this easy.
Session 3: Design and Layout
Next we work on the look-and-feel of the site. You'll choose your template, colours and fonts; and you can upload a banner with your logo or photo.
Session 4: Blog and Social Media
In this session I'll show you how to publish your valuable content into a blog. With some Web hosting systems, setting up a blog is a completely separate task. But the Web host we're using includes a blog as part of its package, so it's very simple to create. If you already have a blog, you can even import it into your Web site.
I'll also show you how to add social media links - such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn - to your Web site; and also how to embed things like YouTube videos into pages, so you don't have to send people off your Web site to view them.
Day 2: Interactive Modules
Yesterday, you created a simple but attractive Web site, but so far it's mostly plain text, and it doesn't have any interaction with site visitors. On Day Two, we enhance the site by making it more interactive.
Session 5: E-Mail Newsletter and Special Report
We start the day by adding an e-mail newsletter to your site. I'll show you how to create this and set it up for site visitors to subscribe automatically from your Web site.
I'll also show you how to create a "special report" and give it away to new subscribers, as an incentive for them to join your mailing list.
Session 6: Selling Stuff
Next, we look at how you take product orders from the site, and have customers pay by credit card. Alternatively, if you sell events rather than products, you can set up event registrations on your site.
Session 7: Private Pages
This is the session where we look at creating private, password-protected, areas of your Web site. You can have different passwords for different pages if you wish, and you can change the passwords whenever you wish.
Unlike some other Web hosting systems, setting up password-protected pages is very easy: You simply create all the Web pages, and then choose which are protected by password.
Session 8: Wrap Up
In our final session, you have time to complete any bits and pieces that are incomplete, so you'll be ready to show off your site to the world immediately after you walk out of the Boot Camp!
Support Webinar
Within a month of the Boot Camp, I host another webinar for everybody who attended, to help you with any questions that have arisen since the Boot Camp. This can be very useful if you've been experimenting with your Web site (which I hope you do!) and would like some additional help from me.
eGurus Community
Your Boot Camp registration also entitles you to two months membership in my eGurus Community. This gives you access to lots of additional resources to help you keep building your Web site.
At the end of that two months, you can optionally choose to continue with your membership, at $55 per month. There's no obligation to do this, and even if you do continue you can cancel at any time.
